The New Green Way To Get Your Take-out Food

By Fredrica Syren:
A friend told me about a vegan restaurant in San Diego and, since I love trying new things, I went there to pick up a menu and some lunch.  The Loving Hut is an Asian vegan restaurant focusing on dishes such as BBQ noodles, Pho, vegan spicy shrimp and healthy fried rice, etc.  Besides the San Diego restaurant, they also are located in Milpitas, San Francisco and Palo Alto.
Their message in the restaurant is clear and positive: save the planet.  One way they help do this is by sending your take-outs in a recyclable and reusable bag instead of the regular plastic bag.  This is a great idea, and they encourage you to bring your bag back if and when you get take-outs.

By just eliminating the plastic bag alone, we do so much to help saving the planet. According to calculations extrapolated from data released by the United States Environmental Protection Agency in 2001 on U.S. plastic bag, sack and wrap consumption, somewhere between 500 billion and a trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide each year.  Most of this will spend an eternity in landfills since researchers believe most common plastic bags do not fully decompose.
