First month update—Making Room for Baby Brother

By Fredrica Syren

I can’t believe how fast time goes by when you have three kids at home. Liam turned one month last week and I can honestly say that the saying that third child is easiest is true. Liam is a chill little guy who really does not care about any noises or what is going on around him. He loves when his sister and brother Liam sleeping in boppyhang out with him. He already gained over 2 pounds and has grown so much.

I feel like we’re already settling into a routine; my husband and I are a good team with the help of our nanny off course. I find that although I do not have as much time to work I do get it done and have become an expert on multi-tasking and planning ahead with both work and home. There are times when Liam has been a bit fussy and I have to resort to answering emails and trouble shooting on computer while feeding.

Bella and Noah have welcomed Liam with their whole hearts and truly love him. Noah who we were concerned would not care much for screaming baby because he is in his own terrible twos has surprised us. Noah is in awe of his brother and can’t stop kissing him and touching him very gently. However, sometimes when he’s sad and needs his mom’s open arms and she is busy feeding, he finds it hard to accept and many tears will Noah kissing Liamstream down his face. This is when I feel my heart breaking and wish there were more then one of me.  I work hard on have a little time with both Bella and Noah everyday and remind myself this is temporary and at this time it’s quality not quantity that counts.

Myself, I feel great have healed very well and fast again which I credit to attempting to eat as healthy as possible. I got out for my first family hike in over three months last weekend. My body feels stiff and sore from all the nursing and carrying a baby around but my daily restorative yoga sure helps.

Everyday James and I take a moment to reflect and look at our kids and feel so blessed that we’re a family of five now and the future will certainly contain a lot of chaos but something we chose.
