Benefits of Minimalism

By Fredrica Syren:

The philosophy of minimalism is to own less and live intentionally—it’s a simple concept that begins with decluttering your life, beginning with possessions you have been conditioned to think you need. For my family, it was one of the best decisions we have made, and we have been amazed by how much it hasimproved our lives. So, here are some of the benefits we found from owning less and consuming intentionally.

  1. Saves money—Of course there is no surprise that by buying less equals more cash.
  • Save time—First of all, we save time because we don’t need to spend so much time cleaning since we have minimal belongings. Also, because we no longer go shopping, we have more time for other fun activities.
  • Less Stress—A famous quote byDave Ramsey, author of The Total Money Makeover:“We buy things we don’t need with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like.” The more we own, the harder we have to work to pay for things.By practicing minimalism, we spend less and the stress is less.
  • Freedom from wanting—Believe it or not, there is a lot of pressure from wanting, and stress can be associated with that. Once I let go, I felt so free; now I spend my energy on other more fun things.
  • Happier family—As soon as my family became minimalistic, I noticed we became happier because my husband and I had more time to spend with each other and our children. The stress over money was gone, making us more balanced.
  • Less clutter—The fewer possessions you have, the neater your house will be and the easier it will be to keep clean. Now that’s is a win-win for me☺

The entire concept of minimalism is to create a life consisting of less of what you don’t love and more of what you do love. The many benefits that come with it will enrich your life and that of everyone who comes in contact with you.
