Avoiding Mosquitos — The Nontoxic Way

In the midst of summer, you may be experiencing an army of relentless mosquitos circling your base morscuitoscamp. Whether you’re relaxing at home, playing at the park, vacationing at the lake, eating outside at your favorite bistro or out strolling in theevening, these pesky pests are determined to stalk and bite you, your family and your friends. It seems as though there is no escaping them without drenching yourself in toxic, harsh chemicals that come in a sticky, smelly creams or thick spray-on mistsEven after spraying those awful, harsh repellents, you somehow find yourself counting the number of bites on your arms and legs before crawling into bed. 

 I’m not sure if there is a full proof way to avoid mosquitos every time; however, there are alternatives to repelling them without spraying and inhaling toxic chemicals every single day before heading outdoors. Check out the list below and inform us of any personal remedies you have found that fight off the madness of mosquitos!

 An Apple Cider Vinegar Shot a Day Keeps the Mosquitos Away

This is a remedy that I learned about when visiting my family in Texas, and it works wonders: “An Apple Cider Vinegar Shot a Day Keeps the Mosquitos Away!” It may not be the best taste you’ll have that day, but it will keep the mosquitos away!

 Smelling Good While Repelling 

Apply soy, coconut or palm oil to your skin to repel mosquitos. This remedy requires frequent reapplication, but just think of all the extra nutrients you’re giving your skin while shutting down Mr. Mosquito. 

 Marilyn Monroe the Mosquitos 

Mosquitos are not fans of wind, so plug in a couple of strong fans wherever you will be enjoying your outdoors space. 

 Use Your Green Thumb to Get Rid of Mosquitos 

Try planting some of the following container plants in your outdoor space, and the mosquitos will look for a different place! Rosemary, horsemint, marigold, lemon balm, ageratum, citronella, catnip, basil, lemon thyme, or lavender are some of the mainstream mosquito repellents. 

 Home Is Where the Heart Is, Not the Mosquitos 

Try concocting this homemade recipe and reapply every two hours to keep the mosquitos away. Using a spray bottle, mix 3 ounces water, 1 ounce witch hazel or aloe vera juice, 10 drops tea tree essential oil10 drops lavender essential oil10 drops lemongrass essential oil
