Make your own fruit leather

By Fredrica Syren

I like the idea of making my own snacks for the kids for many different reasons. One being because it’s better for environment but also you know what’s in it, it will save you  lots of money and most of all….it’s darn fun:) Bella loves fruits and fruit leather as a snack in the afternoon. Buying them at the store they will cost you about 69 cents each while I paid  about one dollar for two fruits and made my own.

Off course for this recipe you need a dehydrator or a hot air oven. You can use pretty much any fruit but for this one I used a leftover kiwi on it’s last leg and one banana. It was a great combination. If you don’t like the look of the seeds from the kiwi you can always strain the kiwi first to remove them.

  1. 1 large banana, peeled
  2. 1 kiwi or other fruit, peeled
  3. 1 squirt of lemon juice

Blend until creamy and no lumps exists. Use a spatula to spread thin on a parchment paper. Dehydrate on F105 until it’s dry and you can peel the leather of the parchment paper.
