The Importance Of Sunscreen For Kids

By Fredrica Syren:

I remember as a kid spending long days in the sun while by the lake and even on vacations in Turkey or Best-sunscreensSpain. As a blond little girl with pale skin, I always was at risk of sunburn and I did often. Back then, no one ever thought about sunblock, and it surely was not talked about as much as it is today.

I don’t think anyone can claim not to know the damage sun exposure can cause and how important sunblock is for EVERYONE. Nowadays I’ve gotten used to wearing sunscreen every day, especially when I’m out with my kids. All of my kids are super blond and pale, so I never let them go anywhere before being slathered with sunscreen with

As most of us know, there is a significant thinning of the ozone layer and this makes us more vulnerable to solar radiation. We have a friend who is an oncologist/surgeon, and I once asked him which cancer he thinks is the worst. Without hesitation he replied “skin cancer.” He said it is a cancer you can’t really see or feel until it has spread. And it is not just the light-skinned who are at risk. Melanomas also can develop in people with very dark skin; while it may not burn as easily, darker skin is rich with the pigmented cells in which these cancers arise.Babyganics-Mineral-Based-Sunscreen-SPF-50-6-oz-Packaging-May-Vary-0-2

For my kids, I use Kiss my face sunscreen or Babyganics mineral based sunscreen brands. Both are organic and toxin free brands.. I reapply it often, and make sure they also wear a hat and clothes that will protect them from the sun.  Covering your kids with sunblock IS the only way to protect them from the sun damage that might some day cause a horrible disease.
